Extension du domaine de la lutte ( or Broadening of the struggle) - Michel Houellebecq

Usually I'm very lazy to do this, write down my thoughts or emotions about something I've seen, read, been to or experienced. I wrote diary a lot when I was in junior high, and it reminded me so truely the negative feelings that I had felt, made it even worse... so after that I didn't write a lot anymore. On the rare occasions that I wrote down something, I tried to write only positive thoughts, encouragements, but somehow I didn't find it very interesting to do. However now, I asked myself why I can always forget so fast the past, bad things as well as good things. That's good, I don't suffer a lot, but that's also bad, I don't keep many good memories for myself. Well, there's nothing to do with what I wanted to do in the first place, writing a few lines about the small book that I've just read.

The reason why I bought this book was because of its introduction on the last page. It's always more difficult to read in French than in English, lots of words that I didn't understand, just got the main idea.
It was about a period in the life of a computer specialist (informaticien), rather a computer consultant. 30 years old. Yeah, that could be my future in 6 years!
Well, he's excellent in his job, well educated, got a good salary, admirable knowlegde in general. Weak points: average look, not having much ambition, indifferent about everything. His life is so boring, no friends because he doesn't care about anything. He went out with a psycho bitch for 2 years, got kicked out of the house, and since then, for another 2 years he hasn't had sex. He just felt pity for a 28-year-old virgin, a colleague of his, who refused to try a whore, but had been trying to pick up a girl since forever, because most men can have sex for free! Plus, in addition to sex, they can also get a little bit of love! On the last night of his life, he failed to pick up a dull-looking girl, who seemed desperated for sex. After that, people just heard about his car accident. About this character, you can't say that his life was a failure. He got everything that people dream about on the professional field. He was just stuck on the sexual field.

Back to our principal character, how would people achieve liberalism? Could you ever say that you have a total liberty in everything you do? Sorry, the answer is usually no. But it's not impossible, there is a way to achieve it! Who can do anything without having to get any punishment? Think harder!!! Jump harder!!! I want to see your brain going up and down!! I wanna see your shits come off!!! (just borrowed some words from the concert of Madonna in Amsterdam last time )





So, did you find the answer? Well, the thing is, it's not cheap and simple to have the absolute liberty, man. One moment you have it, the next you'd lose it, but maybe you can have it back someday. Well, as a consequence of his boring and none-aim life, our principal character went mad, the psychiatrics couldn't/wouldn't do much to help him. He's achieved the top level of liberty, doing whatever he wanted without taking any responsability , then stayed in mental hospital for a while. Nobody knows if his life would get better after that.

PS: there must be many mistakes in my writing, I don't care though, 'cause I really need to go to bed right now.
By the way, today, hmm... yesterday, was my best day of the week! Maybe today will be even better!
